My tape measure wasn’t
Long enough to measure
How much more the world had than me.
It took up too much space in my mind.
and pulled down the belt loops
of my self esteem.
In the middle of stop and go,
I stand still in the middle of
effervescent intersections,
holding my pug painting
won in a raffle on Broadway,
As horns honk, lives spin,
and there is only now.
